Payette Brewery

Tapping Into Payette Brewery

The team at Payette Brewery has made quite the name for themselves over the past few years. With their reputation as the craft beer pioneers of the Treasure Valley, it was no surprise to hear there were plans to open up a brand new brewery. Next to the Boise River and just minutes away from downtown, makes Payette the perfect getaway destination for river-goers, bikers, and beer connoisseurs. This 32,000 square-foot facility features a taproom, patio and canning room in addition to the brew house. For those looking to relax after a long day of work with a cold beer, or those just looking to pick up a six pack on the way home, this brewery is sure to become a destination for beer drinkers everywhere.

Taking the Brand to a Higher Elevation

Drake Cooper created Payette Brewing’s brand years ago, but provided Trademark with the opportunity to collaborate in designing and building a unique environment for their new facility. Ultimately, an old black and white photograph of the Sawtooth Mountain Range and a rustic beer can hold much of the responsibility for the inspiration behind this project.

Mountainscape Facade

The facade of the brewery features a 100 ft textured mountainscape. This colossal mountain range was abstracted from an old photograph and was recreated using a posterized black and white tonal approach. With consideration to the existing architecture and environmental factors, this multi-dimensional piece was carefully engineered and built to ensure longevity and vibrancy for years to come. You can find Payette's iconic logo rising proudly behind the mountain range, just as the sun rises each day.

Woodgrain Inspired Letters

Inspired by the wood grain pattern found on Payette’s infamous beer cans, it was our vision to incorporate the imagery onto the exterior of the facility. The overall rustic feel of the building and brand itself called for signage with character. To match the overall aesthetic of the beer cans, we hand painted each letter and carved a custom wood grain texture into the surface, making these letters truly unique and one-of-a-kind.

Additional Features

The exterior also features a painted wall graphic of a large tap handle. This bright orange corner and visual aid lets visitors know they have arrived to their destination, leaving a lasting first impression on those who make their way into the tap room. Above the entryway you can find a sleek, steel awning and enormous hand painted watermark, similar to a cowboy’s brand—a playful application to all of those who know the company and their identity.

Payette Brewery isn’t just a place—it’s an experience, a hideaway from the hustle and bustle of the city. A place to share laughs and bring people together over hand-crafted beer. Together, we created a space where Payette can share their story and passion for craft beer with their customers. Their brand encompasses those who reside in Idaho—a place where people are wild and adventurous and the outdoors are their playground.
